Online news portal ForexMinute — which covers, you guessed it, forex news (plus news on Bitcoin and Litecoin and other digital currencies) — has announced it has released a new widget so its Litecoin investors can keep up to date with news about the currency.

Litecoin, a digital currency that’s been billed as the silver to Bitcoin’s gold, has risen and fallen with Bitcoin this year and is currently trading at around 0.03 BTC. Litecoin is already the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.

The widget is available here and can be incorporated into websites or blogs. It’s really just a matter of copy/pasting.

ForexMinute says its regular updates about the currency will be a boon to traders and investors.

ForexMinute bills itself as “the world’s leading forex news website,” although topics important to forex traders clearly include altcoins and commodities such as gold.

Litecoin uses a technology called Scrypt so that miners can get their money’s worth with simple CPU or GPU mining machines. That disincentivizes huge-scale mining operations, as we have seen develop in Bitcoin. Instead, this incentivizes users to treat Litecoin as the everyday spending coin, according to creator Charles Lee, who developed Litecoin in 2011 in response to what he considered weaknesses in Bitcoin’s design.

As we detailed back in August, the currency’s limitations keep huge value bubbles from appearing, as we’ve also seen with Bitcoin, offering the stability necessary to facilitate day-to-day purchasing with the currency.
