Crypto exchange expands into global equities through multi-asset trading

Traders are looking for consolidated market access and more integrated risk controls, prompting crypto platforms to add stock-linked instruments and traditional finance products.

Equities, commodities and other traditional finance instruments are now showing up on cryptocurrency exchanges. Stablecoin-denominated trading gives users a direct way to access these markets alongside their digital assets. It also cuts down on transfers between brokerage accounts and crypto platforms.

Crypto trades non-stop. US equities, however, follow fixed exchange hours and generally settle on a T+1 basis. Some overseas markets run on even longer settlement cycles. Tying leveraged contracts to conventional assets also brings in extra considerations around margin requirements and liquidation risk.

Hotcoin first launched in 2017. The company has expanded its cryptocurrency exchange into a multi-asset platform ahead of its ninth anniversary in November 2026. More than 8.1 million users across over 120 countries currently use the platform, with approximately 45% in Asia and 15% in Europe.

Bringing traditional assets into crypto trading

Tether (USDT) acts as the settlement denomination for Hotcoin’s instruments linked to traditional financial markets. Traders can pick up products referencing equities in the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea. The lineup also features exchange-traded funds (ETFs), foreign exchange, market indices, commodities and precious metals. Stock-linked spot products and perpetual futures give price exposure without requiring ownership of the underlying shares.

This traditional finance (TradFi) offering builds on Hotcoin’s existing cryptocurrency services, which cover more than 300 spot markets and 500 perpetual futures pairs. Selected contracts support up to 200x leverage. At that level, even small price movements can cause big changes in a trader’s margin position.

The platform supports more than conventional spot and futures trading. Users have access to peer-to-peer transactions, copy trading, prediction markets, Alpha products and Earn/staking programs.

Wider access to leveraged instruments makes position sizing much more important. Before calculating an estimated position size, the exchange’s Risk-Based Position Sizing tool requires futures traders to set their maximum acceptable loss and specify both entry and stop-loss prices. Actual losses can still exceed that intended threshold during market gaps or unfavorable execution.

Hotcoin Academy provides educational support covering basic spot trading as well as more complex financial instruments. These resources help users handle the learning curve when they run into unfamiliar products as their investment options grow.

How custody and regulation shape market access

Putting multiple asset classes under one trading account concentrates counterparty exposure in one place. Custody safeguards matter most when traders keep balances on centralized platforms and use those funds across products with different risk characteristics.

Hot and cold wallet segregation and multi-signature authorization form the base of the exchange’s custody controls. A zero-trust architecture and AI-assisted risk monitoring back up that setup, while distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) mitigation and web application firewalls protect the network. On the auditing side, CertiK, Hacken, and Core.io review the code and systems. Those checks run alongside bug bounty initiatives and the dedicated Hotcoin Protection Fund.

Hotcoin’s June 15, 2026 reserve disclosure showed over $137 million in assets and reported coverage above 100% for major cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. Customers can run checks through its Merkle tree proof-of-reserves system to verify whether their balances appear in the published snapshot. Full liability disclosures are still necessary to judge overall solvency, however.

Hotcoin holds AUSTRAC digital currency exchange and remittance registrations in Australia. In the United States, it carries a Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) money services business registration. And in South Korea, membership in the CODE VASP Alliance supports compliance with Travel Rule requirements for virtual asset transfers. Which services a trader can actually access depends on the jurisdiction, since each regulatory arrangement has a defined scope and the exchange runs through separate local entities.

Toward connected crypto and traditional markets

The exchange plans to broaden its TradFi instruments and refine automated security systems as it moves into more markets. It also expects to pursue additional compliance arrangements and improve its Risk-Based Position Sizing tool.

Hotcoin took part in TOKEN2049 Singapore on Oct. 7–8 and plans to announce a global partnership with Brazilian football icon Ronaldinho ahead of its November anniversary.

The platform brings digital assets and trading products linked to global equities and precious metals together in one place. Whether that arrangement works in practice will come down to consistent execution and transparent custody across markets with different trading hours, settlement cycles and risk profiles.
