“The aim of the artist is to render the revolution.”
Trippy is a digital artist and the founder of Trippy Labs, a Web3 studio. Trippy has one of the digital art space’s largest followings on social media, having amassed around 1.4 million followers on Instagram over the past decade.
Trippy Labs has been involved in the crypto art movement since its early days and became involved with some notable projects in recent years, one of them being UkraineDAO — a decentralized autonomous organization engaged in fundraising efforts to help Ukrainians affected by the Russia–Ukraine conflict. Trippy’s company launched the UkraineDAO crowdfunding initiative in February 2022 in collaboration with PleasrDAO members and Pussy Riot, a Russian feminist protest and punk rock group that uses provocative art to express anti-government sentiments. Among other charitable endeavors is the FreeRossDAO, which aims to free Ross Ulbricht, the alleged founder of the dark web marketplace Silk Road, from prison. The DAO also bought Ross’s debut nonfungible token (NFT) for $6.2 million at auction.
Trippy and his team at Trippy Labs participated in some noteworthy projects in 2022. Trippy played a role in launching Jadu, an augmented reality project that raised $45 million overall. Trippy also helped to actualize the UkraineDAO fundraising project, which saw an NFT of the Ukrainian flag sell for $6.75 million following an auction carried out via the PartyBid service.
Besides his involvement in blockchain projects, Trippy used his social media platforms to share his views on cryptocurrencies, NFTs, Web3 and matters of public interest in 2022. Trippy has voiced criticism of certain entities and practices within the cryptocurrency industry but remains optimistic about the future of the NFT and Web3 industries. He openly spoke about risks associated with using crypto platforms such as FTX, Terra and Celsius.
Apart from this, Trippy led his team in organizing Web3 and NFT events during the year. In December, Trippy Labs hosted Beyond Basel, a Web3 festival that brought together visual and musical artists. The festival was organized with notable organizations such as MoonPay, FaZe Clan and Samsung. It showcased a diverse selection of digital and musical artworks featuring performances by electronic artists.
Trippy is expected to continue sharing his views on NFTs and the broader crypto industry on social media in 2023. In January, he hinted at exploring new opportunities in Asia to potentially deepen his involvement in the region.
