France, Nov. 7, 2022 — Today blockchain gaming company Cross The Ages (CTA) announced that Square Enix will join the project as a strategic investor, joining the roster of  investors which currently includes  Ubisoft and Animoca Brands.

Spanning the virtual and physical worlds, Cross The Ages Universe is the first of its kind. The free-to-play-and-earn metaverse gaming platform is based on seven free-to-read novels that have been translated into five languages.  Square Enix’s joining will  contribute to the robust development program, gaming talent retention and go-to-market activities for CTA’s first fun-to-play blockchain game to mainstream gamers.

Square Enix is a provider of diverse and high-quality entertainment content and services, including games, amusement, publishing, and merchandising, with a focus on IP such as “Dragon Quest” and “Final Fantasy”.

Cross The Ages’ vision is definitely in line with our views on Web3 gaming and we are very excited to be part of this project,:  saidHideaki Uehara, Director of Business Development at Square Enix.

“Since the open beta version and early access of Cross The Ages: Trading Card Game in early Oct, half a million NFT cards have already been minted. We’ve received so much positive feedback from our community that the game is addictive and fun to play. We are very proud to receive such support from Square Enix and receive their expertise in gaming and go-to-market strategies. We believe the game is going to continue to improve with their involvement,” says Sami Chlagou, Co-founder and CEO of Cross The Ages.

CTA’s growing team of 180+ boasts over 100 international artists including Joshua Cairos, who worked on Game of Thrones and Star Wars, Josu Salano who worked on Lord of the Rings, Andreas Rochas who worked on Harry Potter and Sandra Duchiewitcz from Marvel Entertainment.

At the helm of CTA is Co-Founder and CEO Sami Chlagou, who is also the owner of Pixel Heart, which has produced more than 55 video games for various platforms such as Nintendo, Sony, Xbox, Steam and Android, including popular titles such as Guns of Mercy, Pocket Bravery, Androdunos, Okinawa Rush, Finding Teddy and Playroom Racer, which alone has achieved over 1.5 million downloads.

“Sami's vision for Cross The Ages around creating an innovative, multidimensional entertainment format which players can participate in and own — between the books, collectible trading cards in both physical and NFT formats and video gaming — is truly unique, and he has not only a top-notch team but also a track record of successfully shipping games on a variety of platforms,” said Hideaki.
