LONDON, UK – November 2025 – Unruggable, a UK-based startup building open-source, Solana-native infrastructure, has officially revealed its first hardware wallet – a device built from scratch exclusively for the Solana ecosystem.

Unlike existing multi-chain wallets, Unruggable’s model integrates directly with Solana, offering users a seamless, Solana-optimized self-custody experience. The reveal marks a milestone in the team’s year-and-a-half development journey and follows a series of ecosystem grants and hackathon wins.

“Existing hardware wallets were never built for Solana – they’re multi-chain by design, which means poor UX, slow updates, and incomplete SPL support,” said Bill Papas, Founder and Lead Developer at Unruggable. “We wanted to fix that. Unruggable is built specifically for Solana, from the hardware up.”

Purpose-built for Solana

Every aspect of Unruggable’s hardware wallet has been designed for the Solana network. The device supports deep native integrations, including Jito for transaction optimization, Squads Multisig for enhanced security, Jupiter Lend and Swap, TitanSwap, Anza’s Confidential Transfers, and Solana Name Service (.sol). It also delivers one of the simplest staking experiences available on Solana.

Unruggable will release two versions of its Solana-native hardware wallet at launch: a premium Aluminium model and a lightweight Injection Molded Plastic model. Both versions offer the same Solana-optimized performance and features, giving users a choice between a durable metal build or a more accessible plastic variant.

“Our goal isn’t to make another multi-chain wallet,” said Adam, Head of Marketing at Unruggable. “It’s to make self-custody simple and Solana-native from day one.”

The wallet’s entire codebase is written in Rust, fully optimized for Solana’s architecture. It is also open-source, allowing the community to audit, contribute, and extend the project. The design prioritizes simplicity, privacy, and transparency – setup takes under 30 seconds, with full control remaining in the user’s hands.

Unruggable’s companion app, also written in Rust, runs on macOS, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, and Solana Mobile, enabling users to manage, stake, and swap assets while keeping their private keys offline. The device is Ledger-compatible, meaning Ledger users can seamlessly switch to Unruggable’s faster Solana-native interface.

Built in the UK, backed by the Solana ecosystem

Unruggable is entirely self-funded and independently developed by a three-person team that has been building on Solana since 2021, before the launch of Phantom and Solana’s first NFT marketplaces.

The team includes:

  • Bill Papas, Founder and Lead Developer – PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics, with over a decade of engineering experience, and four years of Solana development.

  • Adam, Marketing Lead – full-time in Web3 since 2021, with experience across community, partnerships, and ecosystem growth.

  • Apes, Product and Brand Designer – responsible for Unruggable’s hardware design, visual identity, and UX.

Together, they’ve built the entire product stack – hardware, firmware, and software – fully in-house and open-source, staying independent of external funding or third-party dependencies.

The company has received support from Solana Foundation, Jito Labs, and Superteam, and recently won Superteam UK Demo Day and Colosseum Breakout Hackathon, the largest Solana hackathon to date.

Today, over 100,000 SOL (around $18 million) is staked to Unruggable’s validator, reinforcing its active role in securing the Solana network. All hardware assembly and testing are being done in the UK, with pre-orders for the first production batch opening in November 2025.
