For me, decentralization means taking the control of money, finances and wealth into our own hands.

Biography:

Sanja Kon is the CEO of Utrust, a platform seeking to use blockchain technology and crypto assets to make online commerce payments easier and more accessible globally. Utrust has its own Ethereum-based token, UTK. Kon took the reins as CEO of Utrust in early 2020.

Kon has a robust work history, having spent years in the business world prior to assuming her leadership role at Utrust, including notable positions at PayPal and eBay. More specifically, she spent time as eBay’s head of strategic business-to-consumer partnerships, in addition to serving in other roles at the company, and PayPal’s United Kingdom head of marketplaces and large enterprise partnerships. Kon first discovered Bitcoin and crypto in late 2016 and soon after became an investor.

Kon has a personal website on which she promotes herself as a resource for helping people on their own journeys, as well as offering herself as an event speaker. The website also includes a blog, although no new posts have been published since late 2020. Additionally, Kon is fairly active on Twitter, with a following of 22,000.

Kon’s 2021:

Utrust did not appear to have a booming year in terms of news headlines, but that does not mean the company did not develop through the year. In fact, a vast number of businesses came under Utrust’s wing, giving them the ability to accept crypto payments. Kon took an active role in promoting the company’s achievements, often retweeting announcements from Utrust’s Twitter account, which has over 100,000 followers. Utrust also has a YouTube channel, which posted several mostly brief videos in 2021.

Kon was a featured guest at multiple events in 2021, including speaking at the Web Summit conference on the topic: “Can blockchain disrupt payments?” She also participated in multiple interviews during the year.

Kon’s 2022:

Utrust showed growth in 2021, which could carry on in 2022 as the world continues moving further toward digitalization. If crypto keeps gaining mainstream attention, businesses will likely continue looking for options to facilitate crypto payments and may select Utrust as their solution of choice. Kon is expected to continue with her Twitter and social media activity, as well as potentially make further appearances at events as a speaker.

In early 2022, Utrust’s website showed the company looking to fill a number of positions, including that of chief technology officer. In January, blockchain platform Elrond acquired Utrust, with its sights set on harnessing blockchain technology to offer faster payments at lower costs. Also as a result of the deal, Elrond aims to help merchants receive yield rather than lose money from payment processing expenses. The rest of 2022 will reveal the effect of the move on both entities in terms of what they offer the crypto space.
