Did I imagine my very first purchase of a ‘useless’ jpeg would cost $2 million? Absolutely not. It should have been $4 million.

Biography:

Calvin Broadus, popularly known as “Snoop Dogg,” is an American rapper and media personality who rose to prominence in the 1990s as one of the best-known rap figures. He has released a number of successful albums, including The Doggyfather, No Limit Top Dogg, R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece, and Dogumentary. Snoop has appeared in several films throughout his illustrious career and has made numerous television appearances.

Snoop Dogg’s 2021:

Snoop Dogg, one of the most legendary rappers in history, has long been an early adopter and promoter of technology and lifestyle products, even collaborating on an NFT project named “Decentral Eyes Dogg.” Over the past few years, many token creators have marketed Snoop Dogg-branded cryptocurrencies in an attempt to ride on his fame, but the musician has warned investors that he has no involvement in such projects.

As blockchain technology and cryptocurrency grew more popular in 2021, many celebrities took to NFTs to promote their work, and Snoop Dogg went even further. The year started with Snoop, a Dogecoin enthusiast, referring to the “Doge Army” in a tweet mentioning Elon Musk. Following Snoop’s post, the Tesla CEO posted a doctored version of the “Simba being raised over the pride” Lion King meme, in which Musk is holding up Gene Simmons who is holding up Snoop Dogg with a Shiba Inu puppy in his hands.

In a Vanity Fair interview published in April, the rapper claimed that his debut nonfungible token offering via Crypto.com would not be his last contribution to the crypto world. The collection, dubbed “A Journey with the Dogg” was released on April 3 and featured Snoop Dogg’s recollections from his youth, including a brand-new song called “NFT,” inspired by the NFT movement.

In August, Snoop Dogg revealed on Twitter that he is “Cozomo de’ Medici,” an NFT collector who joined Opensea.io and created a Twitter account with the same name in August. The Opensea wallet holds roughly $17 million worth of nonfungible tokens from numerous collections, including Cryptopunks, Cosmoflowers and Snoop Dogg Cash.

The rapper released another NFT collaboration with Coldie in the Decentral Eyes Portrait Series’ last edition, which aired in November. The 3D stereoscopic collage is composed of 10 distinct images of Snoop Dogg from different stages of his life, accompanied by his “NFT” song.

The musician noted similarities between Dogecoin and his professional name, saying that journalist Nick Bilton was “very correct” in predicting a Snoopcoin or Doggcoin one day.

Snoop Dogg’s 2022:

Snoop is expected to remain a significant figure in the NFT sector, and he is already planning to invest in the Metaverse in 2022 as a key partner with Outlier Ventures alongside Canadian producer Deadmau5, Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget and Polygon Network creator Sandeep Nailwal.

Given his stature in the industry and exposure across the globe, Snoop Dogg is likely to promote the adoption of NFTs in music and among the general public, and will continue to be vocal on the latest developments and trends within the crypto industry to his millions of followers.
