wikiHow and Civic are partnering up in their bid to bolster the login security of users.
Online guide platform wikiHow and the Blockchain startup Civic are partnering up in their bid to bolster users’ login security. Under the collaboration, users of wikiHow will be able to swap out their old login methods for Civic’s mobile application (app).
wikiHow offers various guides and how-to articles on different subjects. The website was founded by Internet entrepreneur Jack Herrick in 2005.
According to Civic, wikiHow users who use its app can avoid the pitfalls of handling passwords and usernames that are vulnerable to cyber theft.
"The simple, quick process verifies Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to ensure ownership of the identity and establish the required level of trust. The data is fully encrypted in the Civic app on users' devices, not stored by Civic or wikiHow.”
Civic’s new app offers three levels of access, namely, anonymous or private access, in which no user information is revealed or shared, as well as two levels of access with which users can select the data that they want to share or reveal to the public.
The Blockchain startup Civic has recently concluded its successful initial coin offering (ICO), in which it raised a total of $33 mln.
Earlier, the company has generated a total of $2.75 mln in venture funding. Among the group of investors supporting the firm are Pantera Capital, Blockchain Capital, Digital Currency Group, and Social Leverage.
The site is currently ranked 182nd on Alexa worldwide and 126th within the US. The goal of the website is to establish an extensive how-to manual containing accurate and updated instructions in multiple languages.
