Ponyo-Inu announces a bold entry into the meme coins space. Despite meme coins being regarded as high-risk no-utility tokens, some meme coins have proved very profitable to early adopters who kept faith in them. But their usual lack of use cases and interoperability has resulted in price volatility. Thus, many in the crypto community don't view them as a worthwhile investment option.
Ponyo is different. Billed as an auto-impact investing token, 3% of Ponyo’s daily volume is automatically donated to the Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF). Ponyo is in its first weeks and having hit a market capitalization of $45 million twice, it has already contributed more than $790,000, according to CRF and The Giving Block, towards restoring the world’s oceans. Ponyo continues to make automatic donations to CRF at 3% of daily volume.
Not only is Ponyo positioned to prove that meme coins CAN have utility, but the upstart coin is also reshaping the perception that crypto is bad for the environment—a narrative that could break through to the mainstream in a major way.
Now, Ponyo is taking its novel approach of leveraging crypto to help the world one step further with the announcement of Ponyo Impact, an NFT launchpad that mints projects to generate high-impact funds for a variety of non-profit organizations creating positive change in the world.
Scheduled to launch on or around January 8, 2022, the first Ponyo Impact NFT is Pearls, a fixed supply of 5555 unique and randomized 8-bit artworks designed by Chilean artist Belen Segú. The beneficiary of Pearls will be Surfrider Foundation, an organization that has been fighting for oceans and coastal communities since 1984. Like all Ponyo Impact NFTs, the charity will automatically receive the majority of the proceeds from the primary market sale. Furthermore, secondary market sales will donate 2% of each transaction to Surfrider—and 3% will go to Pearls holders.
There are other perks involved for Pearls holders as well, all part of Ponyo Impact’s signature system of gamified rewards, exclusive perks—such as meet and greets, streaming concerts with influential supports—as well randomly selected token airdrops totaling 20% of the net mint, which could be up to $50,000 in Ethereum for one individual holder.
Wallets holding at least 150,000 Ponyo tokens will receive early mint access, which will cost .04 ETH + gas and will be limited to 20 per wallet. Expect a schedule of NFT drops from Ponyo Impact throughout 2022, with subsequent collaborations with leading artists benefiting a range of different non-profits.
Also coming soon for Ponyo is Swim Swim, a play-to-earn smartphone game where users can collect “pearls,” which can, in turn, be redeemed for PONYO, or even Pearls NFTs. Play the demo here—and look forward to the game’s Web 3.0 compatible release by December’s end.
