Geneva, Switzerland, Sept. 20, 2022Tron DAO and BitTorrent Chain return for Season 3 of the Tron Grand Hackathon 2022, with an aggregate bounty of $1.2 million. Registration begins Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The Hackathon Season 3 has a total of six tracks: DeFi, GameFi, NFT, Web3, Ecosystem and Academy.

The newly added Ecosystem track will feature the Ethereum blockchain this season and focus on attracting Ethereum projects looking to expand their reach. This track will be centered around the mass adoption of blockchain technology and innovative cross-chain solutions. Tron has always supported cross-chain functionality, as it is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Now with the further development of the BitTorrent Chain, developers have more flexible options to deploy on and interact between different layer-1 blockchain ecosystems.

The other additional Academy track will concentrate on launching an in-person event designed specifically for currently enrolled university students. It will be positioned as a “hacker house” where students can gather in real life, learn about the Tron ecosystem, and compete with one another for some solid prizes.

Submission of the Hackathon Season 3 begins on Sept. 20, 2022, and ends on Nov. 14, 2022. Contestants interested in winning extra Tron DAO Forum prizes are encouraged to register and submit their projects to the Tron DAO Forum early, as interactions with community members within their forum threads will also be considered while judging the projects. There will be five winners in each track category. The Hackathon Season 3 winners will be announced on Friday, Dec. 16, 2022.

As with all other great hackathons in the space, we hope to empower developers to build and implement decentralized finance (DeFi), GameFi, nonfungible token (NFT) and Web3 projects. We strive to create a substantial and global blockchain community on Tron. As we like to call it, “HackaTRON” is an ongoing funding effort to actively seek out more new quality projects to promote the growth of the Tron and BitTorrent Chain ecosystems.

About TRON DAO

Tron is dedicated to accelerating the decentralization of the internet via blockchain technology and decentralized applications. Founded in September 2017 by Justin Sun, the Tron network has continued to deliver impressive achievements since the mainnet launch in May 2018. July 2018 also marked the ecosystem integration of BitTorrent, a pioneer in decentralized Web3 services boasting over 100 million monthly active users. The Tron network has gained incredible traction in recent years. As of August 2022, it has over 110 million total user accounts on the blockchain, more than 3.8 billion total transactions and over $13.2 billion in total value locked, as reported on Tronscan. In addition, Tron hosts the largest circulating supply of Tether (USDT) stablecoin across the globe, overtaking USDT on Ethereum in April 2021. The Tron network completed full decentralization in December 2021 and is now a community-governed decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Most recently, the overcollateralized decentralized stablecoin USDD was launched on the Tron blockchain, backed by the first-ever crypto reserve for the blockchain industry — Tron DAO Reserve, marking Tron’s official entry into decentralized stablecoins.
