Chilean Primera División soccer team Club Deportivo Ñublense has agreed a sponsorship deal with Stake for the 2025 season.
The crypto casino giant has penned a partnership that will see its logo emblazoned on the front of Ñublense’s jersey.
Ñublense will compete for just the second time in the club’s 109-year history in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s most prestigious domestic soccer tournament. The team famously made it, as a significant underdog, to the final of the Copa Chile last year, hence its qualification for the Libertadores.
Last year, Brazilian club Botafogo won its first-ever Copa Libertadores title, beating Brazilian rivals Atlético Mineiro by three goals to one in the final.
Winning the Copa Libertadores earns a team a place in the Recopa Sudamericana, the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup, and it secures a group stage entrance to 2025’s Copa Libertadores competition.
Stake Strengthens Crypto iGaming Presence in Latin America with Ñublense Deal
Stake hopes the deal will help expand the crypto giant’s footprint in the Latin American region. The company suggested it “highlights Stake’s ongoing commitment to Latin American football.”
Nikkita Thomas, Head of Sponsorship at Stake, said: “Ñublense are a fantastic club, with a rich history and great fan base. We saw a real underdog story last season as they made it to the final of Copa Chile, and their involvement in the Copa Libertadores is something we are very excited about.”
“We are really passionate about expanding our footprint across Latin America, and to be a partner with one of Chile’s most prestigious teams is something we are proud of,” continued Thomas.
Francisco Mardones, General Manager at Club Deportivo Ñublense, added: “We are very pleased to start this agreement with Stake, a brand that shares our passion for football and innovation. This sponsorship will allow our club to continue its growth, reaching new audiences and offering more experiences to our fans.”
The gambling operator now boasts six front-of-shirt sponsorships globally, as well as notable deals with global superstar Drake and former Argentina striker Sergio Aguero.
From the UK to LATAM: Stake’s Strategic Shift in Crypto iGaming
Recently, Stake announced it is set to exit the United Kingdom market after the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) announced an investigation into its advertising practices. This follows a campaign in which the Stake logo featured prominently on a marketing campaign involving an adult actress at Nottingham Trent University.
As a result of the investigation, Stake.uk.com, the operator’s UK-facing website, will no longer be licensed from March.
The product is run by TGP Europe Limited, an Isle of Man-based supplier that runs white-label sites for a plethora of brands looking for access to some of sports’ most coveted sponsorship properties. TGP has revealed that the site will be shuttered entirely.
TGP was ordered to “immediately stop accepting new registrations on the Stake.uk.com platform and remove redirection links from the main website.” The deadline for the complete closure is 11 March 2025.
Upon its closure, Stake commented: “Stake has made a strategic decision in mutual agreement with TGP Europe to exit white-label agreements and focus on securing local licenses through our in-house platform and operations, building upon our growth in key regulated markets such as our recent expansions into Italy and Brazil.”
