Daily fantasy sports operator PrizePicks has announced that it has received the Internet Compliance Assessment Program (iCAP) accreditation from the National Council on Problem Gambling.
PrizePicks becomes the first dedicated daily fantasy operator to receive the accreditation. The iCap certification is only granted to operators that meet the National Council on Problem Gambling’s high standards of responsible gaming and consumer protection policies.
The Regulatory Divide: Crypto Betting vs. Licensed Operators
Like most entities governed by American legislation, the company does not accept digital currencies. Those wishing to use crypto sportsbook products continue to have to go offshore, where legislators would argue consumer protection is lower. The trend across the country has been one of tighter regulation, as opposed to broadening legislation and safely regulating cryptocurrency products.
Last year, Malta-based Tipico became the first sportsbook in the United States of America to receive the accreditation. Gaming supplier IGT achieved the same accreditation in January, becoming the first supplier to do so.
“This certification is a powerful recognition of the culture we’ve built at PrizePicks, and an incredible honor that underscores our unwavering commitment to putting player safety first,” commented Mike Ybarra, CEO of PrizePicks.
“I want to extend my sincere thanks to the NCPG for their thorough evaluation, and to our exceptional team for setting the bar as an industry leader in responsible gaming,” he continued.
To achieve accreditation, the NCPG undertakes a rigorous, independent, comprehensive review of an operator’s responsible gambling practices. This includes Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols, staff training, work culture, responsible gaming tool offerings, regulatory compliance, customer service standards, and consumer protection measures. The NCPG found PrizePicks to align with the highest Internet Responsible Gaming practices.
“We are proud to recognize PrizePicks as the first daily fantasy sports operator to receive iCAP accreditation,” said Jaime D. Costello, Director of Programs at the National Council on Problem Gambling.
He continued: “This achievement highlights their unwavering commitment to player protection and promoting positive play, setting a new benchmark for excellence in the industry.”
PrizePicks has partnerships with Kingbridge Behavioral Health, Socure, EPIC Global Solutions, Xpoint, and IC360 which help the platform ensure its robust approach to player safety.
