Biography:

Brittany Kaiser currently works as the chair of the board at Gryphon Digital Mining, a firm that runs eco-friendly crypto mining. She is the co-founder of Own Your Data Foundation, an organization that pushes forward digital intelligence, and the Digital Asset Trade Association, a firm focused on the advancement of legislation that protects people’s rights to control their digital assets. She is well-known globally for being a whistleblower in the Cambridge Analytica data scandal and a data rights activist.

Kaiser earned a master’s degree in international relations from The University of Edinburgh in 2009. After that, she pursued and earned a doctorate in international law and diplomacy at Middlesex University in 2015.

From 2014 to 2018, Kaiser worked at the now-defunct political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica as the director of program development and business development. She eventually left the company, exposing the inner workings of the firm and how it used civilians’ data to target voters.

In 2019, Kaiser was featured in the Netflix documentary The Great Hack, a film that explored the involvement of Cambridge Analytica in the political landscapes of different countries including the United Kingdom’s Brexit campaign and the United States’ 2016 federal election. In the same year, she wrote and published a book called Targeted, giving an inside story of how big players are illegally harvesting and using data to influence people’s choices.

Kaiser participates in different projects across various industries that work on data ethics and privacy protocols. She is also a public speaker that has given talks at prominent events at the United Nations as well as the European and British parliaments, G20 and Web Summit. She has also given lectures at Harvard, Oxford and Columbia.

Kaiser’s 2021:

Kaiser continued her fight against the misuse of data in 2021 by participating in various interviews and speaking on various platforms and events. Early in February, Kaiser joined a GSMA online discussion and shed light on how to deal with disinformation. In March, Kaiser gave a keynote in an event called Digital Week Online. In November, Kaiser discussed U.S. politics at the Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal.

Apart from speaking at data events and online, Kaiser also continued to work at Gryphon Digital Mining. In May 2021, the firm became one of the first signatories in the Crypto Climate Accord, an organization focusing on decarbonizing the crypto and blockchain industry. In the same year, Kaiser also collaborated with NFT artist Vesa to launch Own Your Data NFTs, capturing the themes of whistleblowing, big data and heroism.

Kaiser’s 2022:

While not yet confirmed, Kaiser is expected to conduct keynote speeches on online platforms and in face-to-face sessions like she did in 2021. There are no announcements of what 2022 holds for Own Your Data Foundation, but it’s also expected to continue its quest to educate the world on digital intelligence.

With Kaiser playing a significant role, the organization will likely persist in facilitating training programs in local school systems and fulfilling its goal of branching out into corporations and governments.
