Co-founder and CEO of Real Vision
person-quote
BTC Twitter still stuck in 2015 ETH wars, arguing about who is the harder money, when ETH is talking about Web3 and community, not money. Sigh. All of this can coexist happily and have a symbiotic relationship. It is not Highlander ‘There can only be one.’ One what?

Biography:

Raoul Pal is the CEO of Real Vision, which he also helped co-found in 2014. Real Vision is a video platform focused on finance and its surrounding atmosphere. The paid-membership platform features an array of content, including interviews and written content, with the overall accessible amount of content on the platform dependent on the subscription level chosen.

Pal has a robust history in the financial world prior to the crypto industry’s birth in 2009. Pal’s work history includes time with Goldman Sachs and GLG Partners, among others. Pal founded a research publication called Global Macro Investor in 2005. The publication also requires payment for access on a membership basis.

The crypto industry is frequently on Pal’s radar. Pal also has quite the Twitter following, boasting more than 800,000 followers on the social media site. Crypto is often a subject of focus in Pal’s interviews and on his Twitter account. Real Vision also includes crypto as a focus, amid many other topics.

Pal’s 2021:

Throughout the year, Pal participated in a number of interviews and posted on Twitter, giving his thoughts on the state of money and finance, often talking about crypto and its place in the world. Looking at his comments and thoughts showed an overall bullish tone with regard to the crypto sector. One example: His macro view that the digital asset industry is a significant opportunity, available for the taking.

Although Real Vision is largely a subscription platform requiring payment for access, the entity does have an active public YouTube channel called Real Vision Finance, which touts more than half a million subscribers. The channel published a significant amount of videos throughout the year spanning numerous topics under the financial umbrella, including crypto. Videos on the Real Vision Finance channel ranged in view counts. A good number of crypto-titled headlines received high view counts for the channel compared to the seemingly standard range of views, although crypto-titled videos did not always outperform.

One particular outlier, however, was a crypto-focused video titled “Raoul Pal’s Introduction to the Exponential Age,” which tallied almost 2 million views — a count very much above the observed normal range for the channel’s other videos.

Pal’s 2022:

The crypto space began with a single blockchain-based asset — BTC. Subsequent years saw the sector turn into a giant web of components with massive amounts of capital flowing into the industry, which naturally has provided more conversational points of intersection with mainstream finance — making Pal a notable source of insight, given his mainstream financial expertise and crypto knowledge.

As crypto continues on its upward path, gaining overall market cap and public attention, it will likely spur continued discussion about the industry, and therefore provide continued thirst for Pal’s market insights. Perhaps Pal could act as a bridge between crypto and traditional finance for mainstream people, helping them understand crypto and its potential impacts on the world — which could further crypto industry adoption.

In 2022, Pal is expected to continue participating in interviews and interacting with his large Twitter audience and providing his insights, as well as continue overseeing Real Vision as CEO. In early 2022 amid a Twitter quarrel, Pal tweeted that he holds but a single BTC due to his disagreement with the mindset of the coin’s community.
