Overview

What is Bitcoin SV (BSV)? Bitcoin SV, also known as Bitcoin Satoshi’s Vision, is a proof-of-work (PoW) blockchain that ultimately originated from the Bitcoin (BTC) blockchain via a fork of Bitcoin Cash (BCH). The Bitcoin SV blockchain’s native coin is BSV.

Bitcoin vs. Bitcoin SV

In 2017, the Bitcoin Cash blockchain forked away from the main Bitcoin blockchain, taking a portion of the Bitcoin community with it. In 2018, disagreements within the Bitcoin Cash community caused another split, with Bitcoin SV forking into its own blockchain and asset.

Is Bitcoin SV part of Bitcoin? Bitcoin SV and Bitcoin are two separate blockchains and assets. Bitcoin SV, with its BSV coins, positions itself as being aligned with what its community believes to be the original vision of Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. However, Nakamoto has not come forward with any form of known communication since 2011.

How does Bitcoin SV work?

The smart contract-compatible Bitcoin SV blockchain holds the concept of scalability in high regard, using larger blocks than Bitcoin — to a more significant extent than Bitcoin Cash. The Bitcoin SV blockchain does not have a limit on the size of its blocks, with some blocks having surpassed 2 gigabytes. For reference, Bitcoin’s blocks have historically stayed around the 1-megabyte range.

BSV coin price

BSV price has remained much lower than BTC price, despite the BSV maximum supply of 21,000,000 coins being the same as BTC’s. The BSV circulating supply differs slightly from that of BTC, although that is not the reason for the significant price difference between the assets. BSV’s price fluctuates in U.S. dollar (USD) value. A BSV to USD live price is available at the top of the page, in addition to the BSV marketcap and other data, with a BSV live price chart below that. The BSV total supply is also listed at the top of the page.
