Decentralization, Streaming, DePIN

AIOZ Network launched AIOZ Stream, a decentralized peer-to-peer streaming protocol on its DePIN, giving creators onchain ownership and token-native monetization.

As distribution costs climb and revenue sharing remains opaque on mainstream platforms, a growing corner of the media industry is testing on-chain models to give creators ownership and verifiable payouts.

A newly launched peer-to-peer streaming protocol is the latest entrant, promising lower latency, transparent economics, and a path for developers and infrastructure contributors to share in the value they help create.

Community-governed streaming

Decentralized infrastructure platform AIOZ Network has introduced AIOZ Stream, a protocol built on its contributor-powered infrastructure. The launch focuses on video-on-demand across short-form and long-form, with live features on the roadmap. The system adds a peer-to-peer edge layer over a community-governed, token-driven model, complementing existing CDNs to bring delivery closer to audiences while keeping creator ownership and on-chain payouts.

“AIOZ Stream is about creating alignment end-to-end,” said Erman Tjiputra, founder and CEO of AIOZ Network. “It enables creators to maintain ownership of their work, allows viewers to support and participate in value creation, providing developers an open media foundation to build on, and ensures the DePIN community is rewarded for delivering storage, bandwidth and compute.”

How it works

At its foundation, the protocol runs on a globally distributed decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN). Content is ingested, transcoded for adaptive bitrate (ABR) and delivered peer-to-peer at the edge with data sharding and redundancy; this edge layer reduces reliance on traditional CDNs by bringing delivery closer to audiences while preserving verifiable playback integrity. A configurable player supports UI/UX customization and integrations. In addition, v1 includes an SDK plus webhook events to streamline developer onboarding.

AIOZ Stream sits alongside AIOZ Storage (S3-compatible object storage), AIOZ Pin (IPFS pinning for immutable assets), and AIOZ AI (decentralized compute for model deployment).

Monetization and developer tools

Monetization is token-native across SVOD, TVOD, AVOD, tips and optional Watch-to-Earn. A Payment Router allocates subscription revenue to the Developer Pool and splits advertising revenue between the Developer Pool and the Watch-to-Earn Pool, while a Tip Router directs 100% of viewer tips to creators.

For ad-supported content, the AIOZ Ads Platform conducts real-time auctions denominated in the AIOZ token, with reinforcement-learning (multi-armed bandit) policies optimizing yield per impression. A configurable share can also be distributed to viewers via Watch-to-Earn.

Web3 is optional for audiences — wallet-free onboarding with onchain proofs available when desired — and builders get open SDKs/APIs, analytics and wallet-optional flows.

Why it matters

The launch speaks to broader pressures reshaping digital media: creators seeking predictable, fair payouts; developers looking for open building blocks; and networks trying to contain bandwidth and infrastructure costs without sacrificing performance.

By combining ownership controls with verifiable, onchain revenue flows, the protocol aims to align incentives among creators, viewers, developers and DePIN operators.

AIOZ Stream has the potential to give smaller publishers and emerging platforms an additional option alongside existing distribution and ad-tech stacks, particularly in markets where centralized delivery is expensive or unreliable.

It could also offer audiences more direct ways to support creators through tips or micro-subscriptions, and give infrastructure contributors transparent rewards for supplying storage, bandwidth and compute.

The next phase — adding live features and edge AI while sustaining quality and predictable economics — will determine how decentralized streaming coexists with and augments today’s platforms as it scales beyond early pilots.
