The three largest banks in the Netherlands—ABN Amro, ING and Rabobank—are investigating whether to use blockchain technology for their payments systems.
The Dutch Rabobank, one of the largest banks in Netherlands, was reported to block transactions related to bitcoin. Rabobank told that there were technical problems, but for some clients they explained that banks Ethics Commission advised to avoid aiding bitcoin trading.
It appears that banks have begun to understand that Bitcoin will become a serious threat for them.
Multi-billion dollar financial services corporation D+H successfully tested its proof-of-concept Blockchain with Dutch company Rabobank.
In a letter released a day before a Senate committee hearing on Bitcoin, the FBI recognized the digital currency as offering “legitimate financial services,” though it warned criminals and those with malicious intent could exploit the currency.
