The Dubai edition of Token2049, held for the second time this year, brought the pulse of the Web3 ecosystem to the United Arab Emirates between April 30 and May 1. Turning the heart of the desert into the global epicenter of crypto, Token2049 brought together prominent industry figures, innovators and influential investors to explore what’s next for the Web3 space.
Participating as a platinum sponsor, Fastex was among the influential players supporting the major gathering. Fastex’s expanding Web3 ecosystem was in the limelight throughout the event, including the YoWallet crypto-custodial wallet and Fastex’s preferred Bahamut blockchain, which operates with the innovative proof-of-stake-and-activity (PoSA) consensus mechanism.
A prelude of compliance and legal dialogue
A day prior to the main event, Fastex co-hosted a specialized legal and compliance breakfast event on April 29 alongside Solidus Labs and compliance expert Delphine Forma. Held at the innovative ftNFT Phygital Space in Dubai Mall's Chinatown, this gathering served as a crucial forum for crypto regulatory experts and compliance specialists to debate challenges and frameworks critical to the industry's sustainable growth.
"From regulation to real user pain points — that's what shaped our direction," said @fastex CEO @VakhtangAbraham at #TOKEN2049.

Vardan Khachatryan, Fastex’s chief legal officer and board member, further amplified the company’s influence through his keynote speech on the IO.NET main stage, titled “DeFi and the Law: What Regulation Should —and Shouldn't— Do in a Decentralized World.”
Khachatryan underscored the delicate balance regulators must maintain, cautioning against overregulation while urging lawmakers to adopt frameworks conducive to DeFi innovation and growth.
Aside from his stage performance, Khachatryan also held strategic discussions with representatives from Near Protocol, Tezos and data analytics platform Nansen, exploring the balance between innovation and regulatory alignment.
