Oasis Network is a mainnet blockchain focusing on scalability and optional confidentiality, both achieved through its multilayer approach. Oasis Network also boasts versatility. The blockchain has a consensus layer and a ParaTime layer. ParaTimes operate in parallel, with each used depending on the use case or application. ROSE is the main asset of Oasis Network.

What is Oasis Network (ROSE)?

Oasis Network is a blockchain composed of a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus layer and multiple ParaTimes at the ParaTime layer. Validator nodes operate the consensus layer on the PoS blockchain network. Execution occurs on the ParaTimes. Optional privacy can be achieved, depending on the ParaTime chosen. A trusted execution environment, or TEE, facilitates privacy via a confidential ParaTime.

Use cases for Oasis Network include blockchain-based solutions that require privacy, such as digital identity. Oasis Network also poses possible solutions related to decentralized finance (DeFi) and involving data tokenization.

The Oasis Network can carry numerous ParaTimes, based on specific applications or uses. The Oasis team constructed a trio of ParaTimes for various purposes: The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible ParaTime Emerald focuses on providing lower fee requirements than the Ethereum blockchain as well as speed. The Sapphire ParaTime is also EVM-compatible but focuses on smart contract confidentiality. The Cipher ParaTime focuses on smart contract privacy in addition to speed and low fees.

How does ROSE work? The Oasis Network’s consensus layer utilizes the blockchain’s native asset, the ROSE cryptocurrency, for multiple purposes, including transaction fees.
