Web3 Antivirus (W3A) is making its token validation engine broadly available, delivering real-time classification of ERC-20 and ERC-721 assets and pre-trade blocking of malicious tokens. The API is designed for wallets, DEXs, CEXs and dApps that want automated token screening built into the swap flow.
Why this matters
DeFi moves fast and new tokens appear every hour. Hidden traps inside token contracts still drive losses through rug pulls, honeypots, predatory fees and look-alike tickers. Manual reviews do not scale. Platforms need a first line of defense that checks every token the moment a user is about to interact.
What the engine checks
Web3 Antivirus evaluates on-chain history and current state to detect security and fraud risks, then assigns a risk score and recommended action.
Key detectors include:
Rug pull signs such as sudden liquidity removal and creator dumps
Honeypot behavior when a token can be bought but not sold
Abnormal taxes and unexpected buy or sell fee spikes
Contract status changes including pauses, resumptions and upgrades
Ownership anomalies that hint at insider risk or concentrated control
Fake and impostor tokens, scam airdrops and sanctions exposure
A single malicious token can drain user funds and damage a platform’s reputation.

Scam code, fake liquidity, and rug pulls cost users billions. Validating tokens proactively protects both users and exchanges.

Risk model and actions
Score from 0 to 100 maps to neutral, low, medium or high
Category precedence: Malicious, Restricted, Suspicious, Unverified
Recommended action: block for Malicious or Restricted, warn for Suspicious or high-risk, info otherwise
Live example: validation inside 1inch
Token validation is already live for users. 1inch has integrated the Web3 Antivirus solution into its token warning system, so traders see safety checks and warnings before a swap. The system simulates transactions to catch honeypots, flags fake tickers, surfaces blocklist matches, and alerts traders to aggressive fee logic or liquidity risks, all without adding friction to the trading experience.

Built for platforms
Wallets and DEXs: show inline warnings, block known malicious tokens, and prevent approvals that lead to drains
Exchanges and launchpads: vet listings with automated checks and continuous monitoring
Compliance teams: strengthen sanctions screening and policy-based controls
The API is chain-agnostic across EVM networks and returns compact, developer-friendly responses with detector evidence, a risk score and a clear action.
