Eric Huang is a software engineer who's been writing code for over ten years. He is a twice published author in the field of embedded systems, and has a knack for communicating technical ideas in ways that anybody can understand - he was even recognized by Forbes for his excellent community contribution in Computer Science education. He most recently held a position as the Project Lead and Senior Software Engineer on the IonDB project, and continues to contribute back to his local community by teaching introduction to programming at the Vernon Community School.
Wade Penson is a professional software developer and published researcher. His work on file systems and database software including IonDB was funded through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and he has published significant contributions to the field. Wade’s specialty is in optimizing systems and user experiences with a background of working for printing, logistics, eCommerce, and consultancy businesses doing web design, development, and technology deployment.
Ben is known as a disruptor in the advertising industry, especially in digital production and marketing. He’s personally designed and produced hundreds of creatives for companies across the globe, generating over 1 billion video views online and driving multi-million dollar revenues for clients.
Dr. Ramon Lawrence is an an award winning associate professor of computer science at the University of British Columbia, specializing in database systems, embedded devices, and wireless sensor networks. His research has produced over 60 publications and $1.5 million dollars in research funding. He is the founder of Unity Data Inc. and is a database consultant for enterprises, including Fortune 500 companies and defense organizations. Dr. Lawrence is a member of the ACM and senior member of IEEE, and currently is the Director of Engineering at Heimdall Data.
Jamie McKee-Scott is a college Computer Science Instructor and a research student mentor in Vancouver, British Columbia. She holds a BSc in Computer Science and an MSc, with research focused on Human-Computer Interaction and Education. Her UX skills have been applied to both industry and research spaces, including challenges such as visualizing multi-threaded programs and administration of questionnaires. Other research interests include user-centered design and AR and VR application design.
Graeme Douglas is an independent software engineer, data scientist, and entrepreneur known for solving problems others can’t or won’t. A published researcher, Graeme has pioneered database software for microprocessors (LittleD and IonDB), investigated fixed point optimization methods, and created the world’s smartest algorithm for optimizing continuously-parametrized processes characterized by randomness and uncertainty. Graeme is highly regarded in industry and Academia alike, having worked for large enterprises and startups in addition to presenting his research at international universities.
