PopcornCine’s TrailerFi protocol is a “Predict-to-Earn” platform that aims to de-risk Hollywood by turning passive trailer and teaser trailer viewing into an AI-powered, gamified prediction market for real-time audience data.

The global film industry faces a significant disconnect. Hollywood reportedly loses billions of dollars annually due to fragmented feedback, slow testing and audience neglect, creating costly misfires for studios and fans.

This problem is also reflected in audience behavior. For example, US box office attendance has declined by roughly 40% compared to a decade ago, as audiences migrate to streaming platforms and global fan communities.

PopcornCine, a film trailer and teaser trailer discovery and prediction platform, aims to address this gap. It introduces TrailerFi, an AI-Web3 suite designed to transform passive trailer viewing into a gamified prediction market.

The platform enables audiences to help guide creative and financial decisions before a project’s release, turning viewing into an active task. According to PopcornCine, the project is working on partnerships with major studios, including Warner Bros, Sony and EuropaCorp.

A new model for audience testing

The core of the project is the PopcornCine TrailerFi protocol, a “predict-to-earn” platform focused on entertainment trailer and teaser trailers. The mechanism functions by turning every trailer, whether for a film, game or music video, into a predictive signal. Fans can join USDC (USDC)-based prediction pools to forecast which content will succeed.

For accurate predictions and active engagement, fans can earn experience points and rewards in the platform’s native token, CINE. For producers, this system is designed to de-risk investments by providing real-time audience data before a project is released or marketing budgets are finalized.

The ecosystem is built to solve a core problem that PopcornCine’s founder and CEO, Pascal Vallat, was able to identify thanks to his industry experience:

“Hollywood taught me one thing: you can have a brilliant script, the best actors and still lose. Why? Because you didn’t test the teaser trailer with real fans early enough.”

Pascal emphasizes that TrailerFi is intended to empower both sides of the market. “With TrailerFi and CINE, we’re proving that predictive entertainment can empower everyone, not just studios, to forecast and fund the next blockbuster,” he adds.

The TrailerFi protocol is built on a suite of interconnected features. These include prediction markets where users can forecast a teaser trailer’s success, a PopReels AI scoring engine that aggregates fan sentiment into insights for studios and creator tools that allow independent artists to test, crowdfund and grow their audiences.

The platform also features a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace for digital fan badges, cinematic moments and creator passes. Every interaction on the platform feeds this AI-powered cultural analytics engine, giving studios a predictive dashboard to test and validate projects before launch.

The engine of the ecosystem

To power this decentralized ecosystem, the project is launching its native CINE token, designed to reward users for making accurate predictions and actively engaging with the platform.

It also powers decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) governance, allowing CINE holders to vote on creative decisions, platform priorities and funding allocations. The token grants marketplace access, allowing users to trade or redeem CINE for NFTs, badges or exclusive campaign access.

A real-yield mechanism is also in place, where platform fees from the USDC-based pools drive buyback-and-burn events for the token. The whitelist for the CINE token presale is scheduled to open on Nov. 20. Early participants will be provided with exclusive access to platform features, early allocations and influence over the platform’s governance.

With support from Brinc (Animoca Brands) and XVC Tech, PopcornCine’s roadmap points toward a future of fully decentralized entertainment, with ongoing advancements planned, such as DAO-governed crowdfunding for new films and AI story simulations to test scripts and themes before production.

By merging gamified predictions with real-world studio analytics, PopcornCine aims to empower a new wave of users with a “predict-to-earn” model, designed with the goal of achieving long-term mainstream appeal.
